Hello there, welcome to Zoubawanderer!
Created in December 2023, this site documents my travels and serves as a resource to all who find it useful.
Zouba for 走吧 (pronounced zǒu-ba) in Mandarin means let’s go, so the site title stands for “let’s go wanderer”.
A little bit about myself, summary version
- Grew up in a city and started travelling during my university summer exchange program in Budapest (Hungary).
- Love wandering around the world with my backpack and recently started to explore camping and trails.
If you’re not bored yet, here’s a longer story of the whys behind this site.
During the semester exchange, my flatmates and I grabbed every opportunity to travel out during our breaks. We’ve visited countries such as Iceland together, and I’ve done solo trips to parts of the Balkans as well. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the freedom and experiences of travelling, I did little to document them. The only exception was an article I wrote about my time in Kosovo.
Upon graduation, I was hurried into adulting and spent all my time trying to adapt to my new phase of life. Then, in 2023, I chanced upon this article again and realized just how little information about my travels is retained in my memory.
Travelling allowed me to experience a myriad of feelings and emotions – I was inspired, touched, stunned, anxious, exhausted, fulfilled, free, joyful, etc. and I thought it would be unfortunate to simply forget these as time passed. Thus the birth of this site is a passion project to document these so I can remember them in the future!
Of course, I took inspiration from other similar sites as well (:
Okay, that’s all for now!
